1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Recipebook AI / RecipeBee service, including our web application, iOS application, APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Recipebook AI ("we", "us", or "our").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility & Accounts

- If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
- You are responsible for providing accurate registration information, maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, and all activity under your account.
- You must promptly notify us at support@recipebook.ai if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
3. Description of the Service

- Upload, store, and manage images related to your recipes and cookbooks.
- Share certain content publicly (e.g., public recipes, public cookbooks, share links).
- Use AI-powered image features (such as image enhancement and multi-view generation) that rely on third-party providers, including Google Vertex AI image models.
- Purchase and use credits to access certain features via payment providers such as Stripe and/or Lemon Squeezy.
We may update or modify features from time to time, including adding or removing features and changing how credit-based billing works.
4. User Content
"User Content" includes recipes, cookbooks, images, text, comments, and any other content you upload or create using the Service. You retain ownership of your User Content; these Terms do not transfer ownership to us.
By using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, display, and transmit your User Content as necessary to operate and improve the Service, and to generate derivative works for technical purposes (for example, thumbnails, AI-generated variants, and metadata).
For public or shared content, you also grant us a license to display such content to other users and visitors as configured by your settings.
You are responsible for ensuring that your User Content:
- Does not violate any laws or rights of third parties (e.g., copyright, privacy, publicity).
- Does not contain highly confidential or regulated data (e.g., government IDs, health records, payment card numbers).
- Is appropriate for a cooking/recipe context and complies with these Terms.
5. Imported Content and Third-Party Recipes
5.1 Recipe Imports and Personal Use
RecipeBee allows users to import recipe information from third-party websites for personal, private use only. Imported recipes are stored in your private account and are not publicly displayed, shared, indexed, or redistributed by RecipeBee.
By importing a recipe, you represent and warrant that you have the right to save and use the imported content for personal, non-commercial purposes.
5.2 Imported Content Scope
RecipeBee's recipe import feature extracts limited, functional information only, which may include the recipe title, ingredient list, preparation steps, preparation and cooking times, and serving size. RecipeBee does not extract or store third-party images, descriptive text, commentary, or other expressive content.
5.3 Source Attribution
When a recipe is imported, RecipeBee may store the original source URL, source domain, and import timestamp for attribution and reference purposes. RecipeBee may display the source domain or URL alongside the imported recipe.
5.4 Ownership of Imported Content
RecipeBee does not claim ownership of third-party content imported by users. All rights to such content remain with their respective owners. RecipeBee claims no affiliation with, endorsement by, or authorization from third-party recipe publishers.
5.5 Restrictions on Use
You may not use RecipeBee's recipe import feature to:
- Import content for redistribution, publication, or public display
- Circumvent paywalls, access controls, or technical restrictions
- Import content from sources that prohibit personal copying or require a license
- Bulk import or automate the extraction of third-party content
5.6 User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you import and store using RecipeBee. RecipeBee is not responsible for ensuring that imported content complies with third-party terms or intellectual property laws.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RecipeBee from any claims arising out of content you import in violation of third-party rights.
5.7 Content Removal
RecipeBee reserves the right to remove imported content or restrict access to the recipe import feature if required to comply with applicable law or third-party rights.
5.8 DMCA Compliance
If you believe that imported content violates your intellectual property rights, please contact us at support@recipebook.ai with a DMCA takedown notice. We will process valid notices in accordance with applicable law.
5.9 EU/UK-Specific Terms for Imported Content
The following terms apply specifically to users located in the European Union or United Kingdom:
5.9.1 Personal Use and Copyright (EU/UK)
For users located in the European Union or United Kingdom, RecipeBee permits the import of recipe information from third-party websites solely for personal, private use. Imported recipes are stored privately within your account and are not publicly displayed, shared, indexed, or redistributed.
RecipeBee does not extract or store third-party images, editorial descriptions, commentary, or branded content.
5.9.2 Database Rights Disclaimer
Certain third-party websites may be protected by database rights under applicable EU or UK law. RecipeBee's import feature is designed for individual, user-initiated extraction of limited data for personal use only and does not enable systematic extraction, reuse, or reproduction of protected databases.
5.9.3 Text and Data Mining (TDM) Compliance
RecipeBee does not perform automated text and data mining on third-party websites for commercial purposes. Any extraction of recipe information is initiated directly by the user for personal use and is not reused for analytics, model training, or aggregation.
5.9.4 GDPR / Data Protection Clarification
RecipeBee does not intentionally collect personal data from third-party websites during recipe imports. Any personal data incidentally included in imported content is processed solely at the direction of the user and stored privately within their account.
Violation of these terms regarding imported content may result in immediate termination of your account and removal of the content in question.
6. Use of AI and Third-Party Services
- We use Google Cloud Vertex AI image models to provide image features. When you invoke these features, we may send copies of your images and relevant prompts or parameters to Google's APIs for processing. Outputs (generated images and related metadata) are stored in our infrastructure and associated with your account.
- We integrate with third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe, Lemon Squeezy) for subscription and credit purchases. Payment card details are handled by these providers; we do not store your full card numbers.
- We may use identity providers such as Apple (Sign in with Apple) to let you log in using an Apple ID.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Upload or generate content that is hateful, harassing, violent, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate for a general-audience cooking app.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise derive the source code of the Service except as permitted by law.
- Bypass or interfere with security measures, rate limiting, or access controls, or overload or disrupt the Service.
- Use the Service to store or process highly sensitive personal data that is not necessary for recipe and cookbook functionality.
8. Credits, Billing & Subscriptions
- Some features (especially AI image processing) may require credits or a paid plan. Credits may be purchased and are consumed per operation; they are typically non-refundable and may expire as described at purchase time.
- Subscription plans renew automatically unless canceled before the end of the billing period. You can manage and cancel through the platform where you purchased (e.g., App Store, Stripe portal).
- We may change pricing and credit consumption rules; changes apply prospectively and, where required, we will provide notice.
9. Data Security & Availability
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access control, and rate limiting. However, no system is perfectly secure or always available. You acknowledge that there is a risk of downtime, data loss, or unauthorized access despite our efforts. You should keep separate backups of important content where possible.
10. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and branding, is owned or licensed by Recipebook AI and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except for rights granted under these Terms, you do not acquire any rights in our IP.
11. Disclaimers
The Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that recipes will produce any particular result, dietary outcome, or health benefit, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, safe, or appropriate in all contexts.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recipebook AI and its directors, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business interruption.
13. Account Termination
You may stop using the Service or request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, if your use poses a risk to the Service or other users, or if required by law.
14. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a "Last updated" date, and may provide additional notice for material changes. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law & Contact
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your jurisdiction unless otherwise required by local law. If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@recipebook.ai.
